Holiday Recap: New Year's Day

As the three people who read this blog may have noticed, I have been absent for a few weeks. I'm afraid the holidays got the best of me, what with all the shopping/crafting/cooking/baking/family-togetherness, etc. It got a little crazy. I've been trying to get back into the pace of normal life and I though that for now, I would post some things leftover from my blissful winter break.

Exhibit A: New Year's Day at the RACETRACK

Yes, racetrack. Omar and I headed over to Golden Gate Fields after breakfast (that I didn't have to cook!) at a cafe in Emeryville. Neither of us had ever been to a racetrack before, but it was Dollar Day, so we had decided to go for it. $1 each for admission, $1 beers, and $1 hot dogs. It was great!

We bet on a few horses (knowing nothing about any of them, we chose by name) and in the last race we stayed for, we ended up winning $9.60, which was about how much we had bet on everything all day. Thanks for $9.60, Alley Fighter!

Video of the race we won:

Apparently there is a horse somewhere named Bean Who, not in the races we saw, just though I should throw that in there.

Next Dollar Day is tomorrow. Also, they will have a snowy sledding area.
